Frequently Asked Questions

Pricing and Estimates

Q:  How much does it cost to have a stump removed?

A:  There are many variables that determine the price of removing a stump.  For example, in addition to the size of the stump, other factors need to be considered, such as the type of tree, the terrain of the immediate area, and the location of the stump (as related to the safety of your home and property).  This is why we always provide free estimates.  We evaluate your specific situation so you know exactly what the cost will be.

Q:  Is there any obligation if I ask for an estimate?

A:  Absolutely not!  Estimates help us as much as they help you.  They give us the opportunity to understand your needs, and they help you understand the variables and benefits of our service.  And our estimates are always free, with no pressure to commit.

Q:  Can I save a few dollars by doing some of the work myself?

A:  While we've found that most customers appreciate the value of our "no-mess" stump removal, if you're a do-it-yourselfer, we'll work with you based on the amount of work you want to do.  If you only want us to grind the stump, that's what we'll do!

About the Service

Q:  Will your equipment damage my yard?

A:  In most cases, no.  As opposed to the competition, we most often use a small walk-behind stump grinder, instead of the large, trailer-mounted machines that can do significant damage to your surrounding landscape.  If there is any risk associated with your particular situation, you'll be informed during the estimate process.

~

Q:  I'd really like to plant another tree where the stump is.  Can this be done?

A:  Maybe.  Be sure to let us know your intentions, and we'll evaluate your specific situation.

Q:  One of my neighbors had a stump removed and was left with a big mound of wood chips.  I don't even think they'll be able to grow grass there!  Is that what I should expect from you?

A:  No!  Unlike our competitors, our main focus is making sure your property looks better when we leave than it did when we arrived.  For us, it's all about improving your environment.  Unless you direct us otherwise, we'll grind the stump and any surface roots, remove the debris, and fill the remaining hole with soil.  When we're done, you're done!

~

Q:  There are some large roots from my neighbor's tree running through my yard.  Can you grind those?

A:  Sorry, but we won't grind the roots of a living tree.  The roots supply nutrition and provide stability to the growing tree.  To disturb them means putting the tree at risk, which puts you and your neighbors at risk.  And that's a chance we just won't take.

Q:  I need some tree work done.  Can you help me?

A:  Of course!  We're familiar with a number of tree service providers in Central Pennsylvania.  Just give us a call, and we'll put you in touch with the business we think is the best fit for your needs.
